  1. Dawn Danko is a thoughtful worker. She studies the issues and works hard to find a balanced solution. I am voting for her.

  2. Hi Dawn…I am the President of CUPE ( Canadian Union of Public Employees) Local 4153 , representing Caretaking , Mechanical Maintenance and cooks at the HWDSB. Please take the time to go to the CUPE Ontario site and click on School Boards Sector. then watch the video of what School Board Support Workers do in our schools. It surprises a lot of people to learn that WE are in fact the front line in our schools.

    1. Hi Arch – thanks so much for the comment. I have had a number of very interesting conversations with CUPE members who currently work for the HWDSB during the course of the campaign. The pride they have for their schools is amazing and the information they have given me is invaluable – if quite unsettling at times. As a member of OPSEU myself and having close relationships with CUPE members in the healthcare field I totally understand that it is the Local members who understand the needs of the system better than anyone – and that is a line of communication that I am very interested in keeping open.

  3. I was at the meeting at Sherwood High School on October 7 to check out the candidates for trustee for ward 7. I was impressed with Dawn Danko. I had read what she had written in the Mountain News and saw the election signs in our neighbourhood, but otherwise knew nothing about her. She was challenged twice during the meeting, but she didn’t back down from the issues. She was able to explain her position in a concise, professional and confident manner. I see her as someone who wouldn’t back down from difficult issues and would fight for what she is passionate about for the families and schools in ward 7. She has my vote for trustee.

    1. Thank you so much Debbie – I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your feedback. School closures have been very stressful and divisive for everyone so I understand where those challenges are coming from – but there are so many wonderful opportunities just around the corner for public education, and its working for those positive changes that I am really looking forward to if elected.
